Siyo, y’all! My name is Babatunde Azubuike (BAH-BAH-TOON-DAY AZU-BOO-KAY). My pronouns are Xey/Xem (ZAY/ZEM) and Dey/Dem (DAY/DIM). I am a Black-Tsalagi, Two-Spirit, disabled, Southern healer currently practicing on unceded Chinook territory so called Portland, OR. I am originally from a small town in Georgia and am very much proud of my southern upbringing and heritage. I am honored to come from a long line of farmers, gardeners, healers, caregivers, domestic workers, teachers, strong matriarchs, and big families.

I have been a practicing Politized Somatics since 2017. I am credentialed as an International Coaching Federation (ICF) -Certified Coach and Bodyworker, having received training from both Strozzi Institute (SI) and Generative Somatic (GS). Strozzi integrates Polarity Therapy, Gestalt, Vipassana meditation and Aikido. Formal training as a Somatic Practitioner is guided by a framework rooted in the profound connection between trauma, collective consciousness, social justice, and communal well-being. My personal and professional lineages echo numerous contradictions, shaped by the systematic discrimination, injustice, and oppression locally, nationally, and globally. I am committed to holding these contradictions thoughtfully with reverence and an open heart.

I am uniquely positioned to support those who are sitting at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and disability. I specialize in utilizing a Black queer feminist lens paired with Politicized Somatics to support leaders, organizers, and healers to embody their values through regular practices and sessions. I invite partnerships, projects, and clients that are ready to decolonize our present, honor our past and make choices in service to future generations.

What practices will lead you to liberation?

In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and time spent deep in the woods connecting with my plant/animal/elemental ancestors. When I’m not recharging my battery at I am likely to be found enjoying a delicious cup of coffee from my cute travel mug, watching horror movies with my boyfriend, or at the gym working on my balance.
